From these two pictures, it can be clearly observed that the tubular membrane is composed of three layers: the support layer, the transition layer and the separation layer; the flat membrane is composed of two layers: the support layer and the separation layer. The granulation of the support layer is obvious, and the transition layer and the separation layer are similar to sponges.

All the layers of tubular and flat membrane are made of pure silicon carbide.

Recrystallization process refers to the sintering neck formed by the solid phase transformation of solid silicon carbide particles in contact with silicon carbide particles at 2400 ℃. The porosity is as high as 45% (the highest among inorganic materials at present), and there is a high degree of connectivity between the filtration channels.

Silicon carbide materials are naturally hydrophilic and do not need to be modified! The pure water flux is as high as 3500LMH.

The function of each layers:

Support layer: the support body is composed of large granular aggregate. It has large pore size, large flow flux, high mechanical strength and no defect surface, which is convenient to prepare defect-free transition layer.

Transition layer: its function is to prevent the small particles from infiltrating into the support body with large pore size, its thickness is 40~50μm.

Separation layer: its thickness is 10~20μm.The thinner membrane layer, the smaller the filtration pressure, it has smaller energy consumption and the higher efficiency.
