Application of silicon carbide membrane in drinking Water Treatment

At present, both SiC tubular membranes and SiC flat sheet membranes produced by JMFILTEC  have been used for high-quality purification of drinking water. CEB&CIP sprays the membrane surface through spray pipe to complete chemical cleaning, with low chemical consumption.

Chemicals sprayed on the membrane surface can quickly penetrate into the porous structure of the silicon carbide membrane surface, so that the pollution factors can be quickly digested after being infiltrated by chemicals, and this cleaning method can ensure that the water-producing side will not be contaminated by chemicals.


Introduction of silicon carbide membrane cake layer adsorption filtration process

The adsorption process of flat sheet membrane and cake layer refers to an advanced filtration technology combining dynamic adsorption and ultrafiltration technology.

The ultrafine powder activated carbon was used as the adsorption layer and the silicon carbide flat plate membrane was used as the carrier of the adsorption layer to realize the full amount of water purification after adsorption and filtration.

Because of the whole adsorption-filtration process, the pressure that drives water molecules through the adsorption layer, the membrane layer and the support layer of the silicon carbide plate membrane to reach the water-producing side is very low, which can ensure that the adsorption layer remains loose all the time. This can balance efficient adsorption of PFAS and other harmful substances while ensuring high-flux filtration.

The biggest characteristic of the plate membrane filter cake layer adsorption and filtration process is that each water molecule and PFAS and other harmful substances must go through the process of adsorption and filtration first, and the entire adsorption-filtration flow channel is evenly distributed with short travel.

According to the different pollution factors in the water source, different ultrafine powder materials can be selected as the fillers of the cake layer.

Currently, the pollution factors verified to be able to be removed include: PFAS, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), volatile organic compounds (VOC), trihalomethanes (THM), humic acid, drug residues, odor, taste and color removal.

2. Silicon carbide membrane backwashing process

 2) High pressure backwashing is supported, with backwashing pressure above 5bar to ensure efficient cleaning of pollution factors;


 3) Use compressed air to flush the filter runner of membrane elements, and clean without dead Angle.
